Pittsburgh Foundry and Machine Company began in 1901 with William A. Smith, a hardworking 20 year-old who had a vision to build a business that would support many families and be a part of the time-honored foundry tradition in the heart of Pittsburgh, PA--where over 100 working foundries powered the engines of the steel industry. Today there are far fewer foundries, but Pittsburgh Foundry and Machine Company still serves many industries. A fourth generation and employees who have become family dedicate themselves to Smith's same vision--producing high quality castings backed by excellent customer service. And we still serve our customers from the same Lawrenceville neighborhood. West Salisbury Foundry has joined our family as well, giving you access to their tremendous talent, expertise, and 138 additional years of high quality casting manufacturing. Bauer Springs, Inc. is the U.S. distributor for our parent firm Christian Bauer GmbH + Co. in Welzhelm, Germany, with a manufacturing tradition of over 120 years. Christian Bauer GmbH + Co. is one of the world's leading producers (ISO 9001, QS 9000, VDA 6.1 certified) of Precision Disc Springs, sometimes referred to as Belleville Washers.


We produce according to DIN 2092 and 2093 specifications (Germany Industry Standard) for applications which require high quality precision disc springs. 


Our warehouse in Pittsburgh, PA stocks a wide variety of standard sizes ready for same day shipment and custom designed just in time (JIT) programs. 


Christian Bauer GmbH + Co. is a leading producer of custom designed plain ("solid") Slotted Disc Springs made to normal or challenging requirements. Custom springs can be furnished with linear, convex, or negative curve characteristics for dynamic or static loading. 


Christian Bauer GmbH + Co. also leads in the production of disc springs used to pre-load More... ball bearings as well. We can meet your demands for metric size bearings with immediate delivery of standard sizes from stock. 


 Christian Bauer GmbH + Co. also produces vanes and rotors for vane cell pumps, wave washers and fine blanked / stamped parts to customer specifications.
