In 1908, Chicago Metal Manufacturing Company was founded. By 1923 George F. Hauf, the grandfather of current management, buys company. In 1984, Chicago Metal Rolled Products (CMRP) specializes in curving steel and aluminum structural members as well as sheet and plate.


In 1992 CMRP buys the largest angle roll in the Western hemisphere, "Big Bend," capable of roll curving 36 in. beams. In 1994, CMRP buys Wallace Tube to add pipe- and tube-bending capacities to its capabilities. In 1996, CMRP buys a second massive angle roll and institutes rapid response: "How fast do you need it? Two days? One day? While you wait?" Turnaround times are slashed. On-time delivery program in place. 98-percent on-time shipping record maintained to the present. In 1999, CMRP begins operating the world's largest structural roll-curving machine capable of bending W44 in. x 285 lb. ft. X 120 ft. long beams the "hard way" in its new state-of-the-art 100,000-square-foot facility.


In 1999, CMRP develops technology More... to bend structurals to extremely tight radiuses with minimal distortion, e.g., a W6 x 12# beam rolled to a 3-foot radius. In 2001, CMRP develops capacity to roll curve 14-, 16-, 18-, and 20-inch diameter pipe in addition to all the smaller pipe sizes. In 2002, CMRP performs compound rolling, off-axis rolling and helical rolling to form structural steel into canopies, arched roofs on curved buildings, stair stringers, and domes. In 2004, CMRP opens a new rolling facility in Kansas City, MO, to serve its customers in the central, southern, and western United States with greater capacity, speed, and reduced freight costs.
