Superior is a qualified small business with an ~25,000 sq. ft. facility and 50 employees located in Long Island City, NY. Superior is a fully integrated engineering, manufacturing and testing facility, serving major aerospace and military contractors for over thirty (30) years. Our engineering staff is composed of mechanical, electrical and systems engineering and has a proven track record of producing difficult electro-mechanical actuators used in torpedoes, missiles, UAV_x0092_s/drones, ground vehicles and other systems used by the military.
Our manufacturing facility is composed of CNC machines, gear cutting tools and a total in-house capability to support the requirements of any program. In our electronics area we house a clean room for assembly.
Superior recently designed and manufactured the Electro-Mechanical Fin Actuator on the MK-30 Target Torpedo for Raytheon Corp. and the US Navy. This unique design had to be minimized so that four (4) actuators could be fitted into a condensed area More... with its own build-in servo amplifier. Superior designed, tested and met the MK-30 programs stringed requirement for low structure borne noise.
Superior designed Gear Boxes are installed aboard surface ships for the US Navy. Each gear box is required to open and close the 450 lb. missile doors upon the launch of the missiles. Both Lockheed Martin and United Defense Corporations have contracted Superior over the last fifteen (15) years for our gear boxes for use in the MK41 Vertical Launch System.
Besides design, development and manufacture of electro-mechanical and mechanical actuators, the company also provides build-to-print, second source and outsource manufacturing of precision machined parts and assembles, gears, printed circuit cards, wiring harness and cables, and other electronic assemblies.
Our quality is monitored by our Quality Assurance Director and we comply with MIL-45208 and will be Certified and Registered to ISO 9001:2000 (A/S9100) by December 2003.
