Hoffmann, Inc.

Description

As a young man, S.J. Hoffmann saw the need for feed storage systems while building silos in Illinois and Indiana. In the early 1940s, he started a concrete stave manufacturing and construction company in Cissna Park, Illinois. A second plant was started in 1950 in Muscatine, Iowa, which is the present location of Hoffmann, Inc. To meet the demand for larger storage structures, Hoffmann, Inc. expanded its operation in the 1970s to include the construction of cast-in-place reinforced concrete silos. The jumpform technique led Hoffmann, Inc. to construct industrial bulk storage silos. Systems were constructed for the storage of coal, grain, wood, limestone, kaolin, cement products, fly ash and water. This in turn led Hoffmann, Inc. into the design and construction of concrete chimneys and steel stacks. Hoffmann, Inc. added slipform construction to its capabilities in the early 1980s. This additional technique allowed the construction of stairtowers, large diameter silos, silos having a common More... wall, and chimneys. Then in the 1990s Hoffmann expanded it's capabilities to include fabrication of steel components for Hoffmann projects. Hoffmann, Inc. then built a 15,000 square feet steel fabrication facility, which is providing fabricated steel items to serve it's own customer base in order to meet virtually any industrial or construction need. Hoffmann, Inc. is presently owned by Kristin Lee, great-granddaughter of founder S.J. Hoffmann. By providing quality products through specialized construction and personal service, Hoffmann, Inc. continues its tradition of excellence.
